Brett Christopher Jackson

Brett Christopher Jackson, 43, of 3706 Farr Ave., Fairfax, Va., formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fall Church, Va.

Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 22, 1962, son of Horace Jackson Jr. and Julie A. Dillard, he was a 1980 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and, at the time of his death, was a medical student at the Medical University of South Carolina.

While in the Berkshires, Mr. Jackson had been employed by Valley Head School in Lenox, United Parcel Service in Pittsfield and Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. At the time of his death, he was employed by Medical University of South Carolina, in addition to attending school there.

He enjoyed basketball, football and his studies.

He and his wife, the former Marie Fernandes, were married Aug. 28, 1988.

Besides his wife, he leaves their three children, Marques, Syrena and Olivia, as well as his other children, Shayla and Ashley Clark and Sienna Frye; three sisters, Kim J. Nelson, of Oakton, Va., Brande Byrd of Fairfax, Va., and Kayla Dillard of Pittsfield; four brothers, Tony Jackson of Beachwood, N.J., Troy Johnson of Framingham, Anthony Johnson of Chicopee and William C. Johnson II, of Los Angeles, Calif.; his stepfather, William C. Johnson, of Stockbridge, and two grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Brett Christopher Jackson, who died Sunday, March 26, 2006, will be held Saturday, April 1, at 10 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with burial to follow in the Village Center Cemetery in West Stockbridge.

The family will meet friends on Saturday from 9 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Jackson may be made to the Jackson Children's Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

He also leaves his grandfather, Horace Jackson Sr.
