Bernice D. Pearce

March 28, 2006

Bernice D. Pearce, 91, formerly of Stearns Avenue, died Tuesday at Providence Care Center of Lenox.

Born on Jan. 8, 1915, in Bennington, Vt., daughter of Raymond F. and Emma Roberts Russell, she was educated in Pittsfield and Milford, Conn., schools, graduating in 1932 from Milford High School.

She continued her education at Bay Path College.

Primarily a homemaker, she had been employed as a secretary at The Berkshire Eagle prior to her marriage.

Mrs. Pearce was a communicant of St. Mark's Church.

She was active at the Ralph Froio Senior Center and enjoyed reading, playing bridge and spending time with her family.

She leaves her husband, Raymond W. Pearce of Pittsfield, whom she married on April 16, 1938.

In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Russell John Pearce of Albany, N.Y., and Raymond E. Pearce of Richmond; a daughter, Doreen B. Gray of Eliot, Maine; a brother, Robert Russell of Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Bernice D. Pearce, 91, who died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

She leaves two daughters-in-law, Christine Pearce of Albany, N.Y., and Priscilla Pearce of Richmond; a son-in-law, Jack Gray of Eliot, Maine; nine grandchildren, Renée C. Pearce, Esq., Russell J. Pearce Jr., Lynn P. Smith, Colleen J. Pearce, Raymond E. Pearce Jr., William R. Pearce, Jennifer Gray Bradford, Meredith P. Vogel and John P.F. Gray, and six great-grandchildren, Ashley and Maxwell Smith, Codi Pearce, Josh Gray Werth, Terren Vogel and Rowan Bradford.

Mrs. Pearce was predeceased by her brother, Edward F. Russell. The family would like to thank all the staff at Providence Care Center in Lenox for their unlimited care and kindness.
