Richard Colburn Lantz

Richard Colburn Lantz, 84, of 25 Unkamet Drive died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Springfield on July 27, 1921, son of Arthur H. and Hazel Colburn Lantz, he graduated from Springfield schools and completed the GE Apprentice program, later receiving a degree in engineering.
A World War II veteran, he served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Lantz was employed by General Electric Company as a manufacturing engineer for 47 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs and Elfun Society. He served as a Webelo and Cub Scout leader.
He enjoyed working on cars, upholstering car seats and cross-country skiing.
He and his wife, the former Mary R. Hogan, were married Oct. 14, 1950.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Frederick A. Lantz of Pittsfield and Jeffrey A. Lantz of Apple Valley, Minn., and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Richard Colburn Lantz, who died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, also leaves his daughters-in-law, Ellen (Mrs. Frederick) and Mary Anne (Mrs. Jeffrey), and his four grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Jeffrey, and Kelly.
There are no funeral services planned. However, the family will receive friends at DERY FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. The omission of flowers is requested, although contributions in memory of Mr. Lantz may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, The Salvation Army, or to The Christian Center, all in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
