Joseph E. Perkins

Joseph E. Perkins, 55, of 76 Daniel Shays Highway, Orange, a native of Pittsfield, died Wednesday at home of an apparent heart attack.
Born on Sept. 11, 1950, son of the late Wilfred E. Perkins Sr. and Anna DeRosa Perkins Pelkey, he was a 1969 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team.
Following graduation, he served in the Air Force for four years.
Mr. Perkins was employed by Nichols & Stone Furniture in Gardner as a carpenter, retiring last year because of ill health. Before that, he worked for many years at Beloit Jones Corp. and was a carpenter at the former Childs & Bishop.
He was a fan of the New England Patriots and of the Red Sox.
He leaves three sisters, Beverly A. Roberts of Lenox, and Shirley M. Zawistowski and Tina M. Wendling, both of Pittsfield; three brothers, Wilfred E. Perkins Jr. of Celebration, Fla., Michael A. Perkins of Pittsfield and Donald E. Perkins of Amesbury.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph E. Perkins, who died March 22, 2006, will be Monday at 9:15 from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home. He also leaves his longtime companion, Wendy Flanders of Orange; his sisters-in-law, Maureen, Celeste and Tammi Perkins; his brothers-in-law, Alan Roberts, Michael Zawistowski and James Wendling, and several nieces and nephews.
