Grace P. Horth

Grace P. Horth, 79, of 1113 South St. died Tuesday evening at her home.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 30, 1926, daughter of Frank M. and Mildred E. Newbery Potts, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
For the last 60 years, Mrs. Horth has been owner of the Bay State Elevator Co. and the Elevator Sales & Service Inc., both of Dalton, where she was owner, treasurer and clerk of both companies.
Mrs. Horth was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church. A bridge player, she enjoyed playing with the local bridge group in Dalton. She was a longtime supporter of youth sports in Dalton and in Pittsfield. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and being with her family.
She leaves her husband, James H. Horth Jr. of Dalton, whom she married Sept. 1, 1951, in Sacred Heart Church. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, James H. Horth III and Peter M. Horth, both of Dalton, and David M. Horth of Sudbury; a brother, Bernard J. Potts of Lenox, and eight grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Grace P. North of Dalton, who died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, will be held Friday, March 24, at 9:15 a.m. from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Grace may be made to the Dalton Youth Center or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton. Mrs. Horth also leaves three daughters-in-law, Deborah (Mrs. James) Horth III, Louisa (Mrs. Peter) Horth, and Beth (Mrs. David) Horth, and eight grandchildren, Alison, Bradley, Lauren, Wesley, Michael, Gregory, Nicole and Gabrielle Horth. She was predeceased by another brother, Harold
