Dr. Lincoln Eramo

Dr. Lincoln Eramo, M.D., 88, of 16 Williams St., died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. He had resided in Craneville Place since July 2001.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 12, 1918, son of Martino and Maria Venti Eramo, he attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1937. He later graduated from Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. in 1942 and then from Tufts University School of Medicine in Medford in 1945.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a captain with the 1st Station Medical Group in , and received several medals.
He interned at Mercy Hospital in Springfield and began private practice in Pittsfield in 1949. He was on the staff of Berkshire Medical Center, the former Hillcrest Hospital and the former St. Luke's Hospital in Pittsfield. He was a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and belonged to the Massachusetts Medical Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He retired in 1989 as physician for the Berkshire County House of Correction, a position he held for years, and from medical practice in 1998.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
He leaves his wife, the former Doris J. Varno, who he married on Aug. 3, 1946; two sons, Lincoln Eramo Jr. of Winchester, Calif., and Martin P. Eramo of San Clemente, Calif.; and a daughter, Doris O. Eramo of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Dr. Lincoln Eramo, M.D., who died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, will take place Monday at 9 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor, officiating.
Burial will following the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. He leaves several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. He was predeceased by five brothers, Dr. Alfred, Dr. Williams S., Edgar, Patrick, and Thomas Eramo, and two sisters, Lucia Altobelli and Louis Pinciaro.
