Dominic Francis Sangiovanni

Dominic Francis Sangiovanni, 87, of Medway died Monday at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on May 25, 1918, son of Guiseppe and Rosina Coiro Sangiovanni, he graduated from St. Joseph's High School and attended St. Anselms College in Manchester, N.H.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of Machinist's Mate First Class and received the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal-1 star, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
He worked for the U.S. Department of Labor for more than 25 years and retired in 1993 as the Regional Director in the Bureau of Apprentice and Training.
Mr. Sangiovanni was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Holliston. He was a life member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. He was also a member of the Medway VFW Post No. 1526.
He was the husband of Helen M. Hall Sangiovanni, who died in 1987.
He leaves two daughters, Donna Eckardt of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Annmarie Sangiovanni-Damato of Medway; two sisters, Lena Adams and Helen Goyette, both of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Dominic Francis Sangiovanni will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 101 Summer St., in Holliston. Calling hours will be held on Thursday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at GINLEY-CROWLEY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Barber St., Medway.
Burial will take place on Friday, March 17, at noon, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 101 Summer St., Holliston, MA 01746. Mr. Sangiovanni also leaves a granddaughter, Marielle Sangiovanni Damato; two sons-in-law, Ottmar and Dennis, and several nieces and nephews. He lived an active and vibrant life right up until the time of his death.
