Phillip V. "Tootie" Nicola Jr., 52, of 1270 North St., died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 7, 1953, son of Phillip V. Nicola Sr. and Teresa Hugabone Nicola, he was a 1971 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Nicola was employed by the General Electric Co., retiring after 23 years due to illness.
He was a member of Mount Carmel Church, and a member of the GE Pensioners Club and the Italian American Club. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards and riding motorcycles.
He was the husband of the former Rita Marion Kie, whom he married Nov. 6, 2004.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Colleen Nicola of Pittsfield, Theresa Nicola of Pittsfield, Vanessa Nicola of Pittsfield, and Christina Goodno of New Lebanon, N.Y.; a son, Philip Nicola III of New Lebanon, N.Y.; two sisters, Linda Costigan and Phyllis Nicola, both of Pittsfield; a brother, David P. Nicola of Pittsfield, and seven grandchildren. Mr. Nicola also leaves his ex-wife, the former Bonnie Jones.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Philip V. "Tootie" Nicola Jr., who died Friday, March 10, 2006, will be held Thursday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday, March 16 from 9 until 10:30 a.m.. If friends desire, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, in his memory.
