James C. Messana Sr.

James C. Messana Sr., 79, of 47 Rhode Island Ave., died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 12, 1927, son of Ignazio and Altonza Vaccaro Messana, he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1946.
He was an auto mechanic who owned and operated the Messana Texaco Station on North Street from 1950 to 1992.
He was a member of the Italian American Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and woodworking.
He was the husband of the former Giovanna "Jenny" Monticone, whom he married June 12, 1948.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Jaimy Messana, of Lenox; a son, James C. Messana Jr., also of Lenox; a brother, Charles Messana of Dalton, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for James C. Messana Sr., who died Sunday, March 12, 2006, will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Association or a charity of the donor's choice, in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mr. Messana will be lovingly missed by his daughter-in-law, Linda Messana, and his granddaughter, Michelle Messana.
