Blanche "Dolly" Mary Roukas, 74, of 150 Lenox Ave. died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center following a short and sudden illness.
Born in Pittsfield on May 23, 1931, daughter of William and Helen Zelenski Skumin, she was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Mrs. Roukas was a homemaker. At one time, she was employed by the former Elmvale Worsted Mill.
She attended St. Joseph's Church and volunteered with the Marian Helpers in Stockbridge. She was a member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center and AARP. She enjoyed bowling with the Senior Monday Morning League and the Thursday Rosary League.
Her husband, Peter Roukas, whom she married Feb. 3, 1951, died Nov. 19, 1974.
Mrs. Roukas leaves a son, Peter S. Roukas of Pittsfield; a brother, John Skumin of Lanesborough; three sisters, Christine Stafford and Ann Nascimento, both of Pittsfield, and Julia Soldato of New Lebanon, N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Blanche "Dolly" Mary Roukas, who died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, will be today at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The omission of flowers is requested, with contributions suggested, instead, to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Sreet, Pittsfield. Mrs. Roukas also leaves her daughter-in-law, Lisa Turner Roukas. She was predeceased by three sisters, Wanda Britton, Stella Daviau and Jennie Whitney, and two brothers, Chester "Mike" Malkowski and Joseph Malkowski.
