Marie E. Howard, 90, of Craneville Place, a former longtime resident of Dalton Division Road in Pittsfield, died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center. She had resided at Craneville Place since 1997.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 28, 1916, daughter of Stanislaw and Stephania Kamuda Naprava, she was a 1934 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Howard was employed as a tabber at the former Sheaffer-Eaton Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.
She and her husband, Edward J. Howard, were married June 27, 1936. He died Feb. 4, 1995. They had enjoyed vacationing at the beach and traveling throughout the United States.
She leaves a son, John J. Howard of Canton, Ohio; four sisters, Sophie Stickles of Freeport, N.Y., Helen Sharkey of Rome, Ga., Jennie Donahue of Pittsfield and Wanda Skowronski of Dalton; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marie E. Howard, who died March 2, 2006, will be celebrated Monday at 10 at St. Francis' Church by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mrs. Howard was predeceased by two brothers, Steve and Walt Naprava. Survivors include her dear companion and caretaker, her granddaughter Susan Bouchard of the town of Florida.
