Paul C. Froio

Paul C. Froio, 91, of 93 Lucia Drive died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 21, 1915, son of Antonio and Rose Dastoli Froio, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1933.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in five major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge.
He was employed by the General Electric Company for 38 years, and he retired from the ordinance department as a sub-contracting administrator in 1978.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club, General Electric Pensioners Club and Berkshire Hills Country Club, and a founding member of the Rainbow Club of Pittsfield and Sons of Italy Itam Lodge No. 564. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, horse racing and was an owner of a horse. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He leaves his wife, the former Henrietta I. Williams, whom he married on Nov. 15, 1943, at Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield; two daughters, Paula I. Powers of Pittsfield and Pamela J. Wills of Lutz, Fla., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Paul C. Froio, who died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, will be held Friday, March 3 at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S., Pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, March 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the Mount Carmel Church Holy Name Society will meet Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for a vigil service. Members of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge No. 564 will meet at 6 p.m. for a Ritual Service.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Shaun, Shane and Kellie Powers, Shannon Caporale; three great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ciara and Carina Caporale, and two sons-in-law, John F. Powers and Richard Wills. Paul was predeceased by three brothers, Dr. Fiorino P. Froio, Ralph J. Froio and Orlando J. Froio, and two sisters, Mary Camuso and Phena C. Leonardi. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund or Unico of Pittsfield in care of the funeral home.
