Lola A. Gordon-Palma

Lola A. Gordon-Palma, 78, of 79 Doreen St., died Friday evening at home after a long illness.

Born on Dec. 19, 1927, in Swifton, Ark., daughter of Rufus and Mary Hatfield Jones, she attended school in Arkansas. She has resided in Pittsfield for many years.

Mrs. Gordon-Palma was last employed at the former Sheaffer Eaton Paper Co. in Pittsfield for 19 years, retiring as a machine operator in 1984. Prior to that, she had been a hairdresser at the former England Brothers Department Store for four years.

She was a communicant of All Soul's Church.

She was a doll collector and made fine ceramic dolls. She also enjoyed crocheting, painting and sewing.

Her first husband, Glenn Hunter Gordon of Dalton, died April 16, 1978. Her second husband, Louis F. Palma, died Oct. 22, 2003.

She leaves two sons, Lawrence G. Gordon of Richmond and Brian H. Gordon of Dalton; six daughters, Gayle Bourassa of Pittsfield, with whom she made her home, Susan Poincelot, Michele Arseneau and Carol Greene, all of Pittsfield, Glenda Sickell of Dalton and Eunice Dozier of Groveland, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by another daughter, Paulette Gosselin, who died Jan. 16, 1990.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Lola A. Gordon-Palma, who died Feb. 24, 2006, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at All Soul's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Decker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 10201.

Lola, who died Friday evening surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter Gayle and son-in-law Kevin Bourassa, will be sadly missed by her 20 grandchildren, Matthew Gordon, Richard and Keith Poincelot, Dawn Moody, Chris and Anthony Sickell, Kristi Sanborn, Sheri Olson, Megan Andrews, Sarah and Glen Gordon, Glen Arseneau, Heather DiSanti, Nicholas and Jessica Ellis, Darrin Green and Jeffrey, Marc, Justin and Nicole Bourassa; 24 great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Ricky Palma.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Edward Gosselin, in 2003.
