Jennie J. Gilardi, 86, formerly of 61 Elberon Ave. died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since January.
Born in Hinsdale, Aug. 11, 1919, a daughter of Ignatius and Maria Cencia Panetti, she attended Pittsfield schools.
She was a communicant of St. Mary the Morning Star Church in Pittsfield.
Primarily a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking.
On April 17, 1937, in Mount Carmel Church, she married Louis J. Gilardi, who died Jan. 15, 2002.
She leaves two sons, Thomas G. and Ronald W. Gilardi, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Alexander and Angelo Panetti, both of Pittsfield; four sisters, Theresa Garzone and Viola Rotti, both of Pittsfield, Frances Lucaroni of Dalton and Sister Angelina Panetti, a Venerini sister, in Fitchburg; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Jennie J. Gilardi, who died Feb. 25, 2006, will take place Tuesday, Feb. 28, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Morning Star Church, celebrated by the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Youth Center or HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 10201.
She leaves six grandchildren, Jennifer Astore, Jodi, Beth, Bryan, Barry and Bonnie Gilardi, and 3 great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alexandra Gilardi, and Nicholas Astore, and two daughters-in-law, Jacqueline and Selma Gilardi.
She was predeceased by a brother, Carmen Panetti, and three sisters, Prudence DiGrigoli, Eva Carroll and Nicolina Serra. Jennie loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
