Bernice "Betty" Elizabeth Lawrence, 86, formerly of 12 Pleasant St., died yesterday at Craneville Place, where she had been a resident since January.
Born Feb. 15, 1920, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Earl and Mary A. Mattis Harvey, she was a 1938 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She was employed as a secretary for the Pittsfield Taxpayer's Association, the personnel department for the City of Pittsfield, and the Berkshire County Industrial Development Committee until her retirement.
Mrs. Lawrence attended St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield.
She married Robert F. Lawrence on April 22, 1957. He died August 26, 1990.
She leaves several nieces and nephews, as well as a cousin.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Bernice Lawrence will be held Thursday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church at 11 a.m., with Canon Hannah Anderson, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours will be the day of the service from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
Among survivors are nieces, Diane McKinney, Hulda O'Neil, Sally Partridge, Mary Jo Saviski and Kathleen Bushey, all of Pittsfield, and Gail Hadley of Durham, Conn., and Gay Hisert of Schenectady, N.Y.; nephews, Karl Koenig of Northbrook, Ill., Christopher Koenig of Cape Coral, Fla., Timothy Koenig of the state of Florida, and George Hisert of Schenectady, N.Y., and a cousin, Sally Williams of Greenwood, Ind.
