Carl J. Fenner Jr., 91, of East Otis and, more recently, of Devonshire Estates died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsfield on Nov. 12, 1914, son of Carl J. and Margaret Dupre Fenner.
He attended Pittsfield schools.
He was employed by the General Electric Company as a foreman of transportation for 31 years, and he retired in 1976. He resided in East Otis for 26 years and moved to Lenox in 2002. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield.
He was a member of the Mt. Greylock Ski Club of Hancock and the Otis Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, water skiing and racing motor boats.
He was a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriff's Association.
His first wife, the former C. Virginia Hill, died on Feb. 17, 1957. They were married on June 19, 1937. His second wife, Grace Gerecht, whom he married Aug. 9, 1958, died Jan. 27, 1990.
Mr. Fenner leaves three daughters, Sandra Thomas of Richmond, Karen Guinan of Pittsfield and Joan Ford of Southbury, Conn.; a brother, Edward Fenner of Pittsfield, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Adriance.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Carl J. Fenner Jr. died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006. A Requiem Eucharist Service will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 24, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Hannah Anderson, rector, officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in the family plot at Cemetery of the Evergreens, New Lebanon, N.Y. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., will be Thursday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Survivors include 10 grandchildren, Terry Tosk, Robert and Michael North, Randy Thomas, Darren O'Brien, Kimberly Dawson, Alan Pierce, Gary Ford, Darlene Svenberg and Brenda Goss, and son-in-law, Louis Thomas.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Adriance; a brother, William Fenner, and a sister, Barbara Cullen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
