Ruth M. Simon, 87, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Devonshire Estates, died Saturday at home.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., on Aug. 16, 1918, daughter of Aaron and Dora Siegel Moskowitz, she graduated from Evander Childs High School and attended Hunter College for two years.
For many years, she also attended classes at Princeton University.
Mrs. Simon was employed as an executive secretary for many years in the New York and New Jersey areas, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Hadassah and Brandeis Women. She was co-founder of Cancer Care Inc. in Bergen County, N.J.
She and her husband, William Simon, were married Jan. 7, 1945. He died April 10, 2003.
She leaves two daughters, Meryl Thomson of Dalton and Janet Simon of San Francisco; a sister, Estelle Rogol of Boynton Beach, Fla., and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ruth M. Simon, who died Feb. 18, 2006, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with Rabbi Harold Salzmann, rabbi emeritus of Temple Anshe Amunim, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason, Jeffrey and Deborah Thomson.
She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Frieder.
