Joseph Charles Taylor

Joseph Charles Taylor, 43, of 69 Fort Hill Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center after being diagnosed with cancer a month ago.

Born in Pittsfield on April 10, 1962, son of Charles F. Taylor and the late Florence Barton Taylor, he attended Pittsfield High School.

A truck driver, he recently started T&H Trucking. Before that, he worked for various companies, including County Concrete Corp. and Mass Energy & Oil Inc.

He enjoyed carpentry, painting, landscaping, mechanics, football, swimming and motor sports.

He and his wife, Kathryn Hughes, were married Sept. 12, 2005.

Besides his wife and father, of Pittsfield, he leaves five daughters, Kira Race of Lenox, Marquita Taylor and Rachel Taylor, both of Pittsfield, Alise Taylor of Hinsdale and Courtney Taylor of Adams; a stepdaughter, Danielle Cartier of Pittsfield; a stepson, Jacob Cartier of Pittsfield; five sisters, Gail Taylor, Candy Taylor, Tammy Taylor and Tanya Taylor, and Penny Stockley, all of Pittsfield; his stepfather, Ernest "Butch" Stone of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph Charles "Joey" Taylor, who died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday at 10 at Martin Memorial Chapel at Pittsfield Cemetery by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor of St. Mark's Church.

Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. A reception will follow at Zucchini's Restaurant. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 7 at DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Taylor may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Joey is remembered with love by his wife, Kathryn Hughes, with whom he shared a whirlwind romance. He also leaves his granddaughter, Myla Roman, many nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was happiest when spending time with his friends and family.
