Corinne L. Shapiro

Corinne L. Shapiro, 79, of 43 Bishop Parkway died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on June 20, 1926, the daughter of Arthur and Sally Lubin, she attended schools in New York and graduated from high school in Long Island City.

Continuing her education, she earned her baccalaureate degree in fine arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949.

Following her graduation, she was employed in New York City as an interior designer. Later, she was employed as an art teacher in the Pittsfield Public Schools. In her later years, she worked as an outside travel agent for Squaw Peak Travel for 10 years retiring in 2003.

A member of Temple Anshe Amunim, she belonged to its Sisterhood. She enjoyed shopping, interior design, cooking, baking and was an avid Mahjong player.

She and her husband of 53 years, Sherwin Steven Shapiro, were married Jan 25, 1953, in Long Island.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Dr. Bradley A. Shapiro of Cranston, R.I., Jonathan D. Shapiro of Chicago, Ill., and Peter A. Shapiro of New York City; a brother, Hari Lubin of Greenrae, Calif.; and two grandsons.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Corinne Lubin Shapiro, 79, who died Feb. 7, 2006, will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Temple Anshe Amunim, 26 Broad St., with Rabbi Sam Seicol, spiritual leader, officiating.

Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery, Temple Anshe Amunim section. The family will receive friends during Shiva at the family home, 43 Bishop Parkway, on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 1 until 4 p.m.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Red Cross in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. She is also lovingly survived by her grandsons, Matthew and Jared Shapiro, and daughters-in- law, Sally and Deborah Shapiro, and Lisa Landry.
