Gerardo C. Murano, 95, of 580 East St. died Friday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where he had resided for a short time.
Born in Cairano, province of Avellino, Italy, on April 13, 1910, the son of Gennaro and Benenedetta Murano, he attended schools there.
He immigrated to the United States in 1952, settling in Pittsfield. His family joined him in 1954.
A master cabinetmaker and carpenter, Mr. Murano worked for many years with local contractors. He retired in the 1970s.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed gardening, winemaking and opera.
He and his wife, the former Michelina Mazzeo, were married Dec. 19, 1940, in Italy. She died Sept. 23, 1999.
He leaves a son, Dr. Genesio Murano of San Francisco; a daughter, Leonice Quinlan of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gerardo C. Murano, 95, who died Feb. 3, 2006, will be Tuesday at 9:15 from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul Burns, CSS. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
He also is lovingly survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie Armstrong, Brian Quinlan and Krystian and Justin Murano; great-grandchildren, Isabella Armstrong and Cameron "The Boy" Armstrong; a grandson-in-law, Douglas Armstrong, and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Ursula Murano.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Thomas P. Quinlan.
