Cecelia Bertha Verchot, 63, of 123 Danforth Ave. died Wednesday evening at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 8, 1943, daughter of the late Bertha Benson Shaw Ballato and the late Arthur Shaw, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A nursing assistant by profession, Mrs. Verchot worked at Hillcrest Commons for the past several years. Prior to that, she had been employed at the former Edgecombe Nursing Home in Lenox. She retired in May 2000.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting and needlepoint.
Her husband, Peter A. Verchot, whom she married August 3, 1959, died February 28, 1983.
She leaves two sons, Peter J. and Eric P. Verchot, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Audrey J. Vickery of Pittsfield; a brother, Francis Shaw of Pittsfield; two sisters, Bertha Shaw and Sandra Atwell, both of Pittsfield; her stepfather, Santo Ballato of Boston; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Cecilia Bertha Verchot, who died Feb. 1, 2006, will be held Monday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
