Thomas Francis Burke

Thomas Francis Burke, 71, of 131 Hale St. Extension died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 7, 1934, son of Louis and Mary Hart Burke, he attended Dalton schools and was a 1953 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1956.
Mr. Burke was employed as a paper machine operator by Crane & Co. for 14 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He enjoyed woodworking and was a Boston Red Sox fan.
He and his wife, the former Agnes T. Higgins, celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary Dec. 4.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Anne L. Ferin of Hinsdale, Laurie A. Blair of Adams and Catie A. Burke of Dalton, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Thomas F. Burke, who died Jan. 28, 2006, will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at 10:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by his nephew, the Rev. Mark J. Burke, S.J., pastor of St. Patrick and St. Raphael Parishes in Williamstown, and the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes' Church.
Burial with military honors will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Lions Club of Dalton for Macular Degeneration Research or to the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Burke was the very proud uncle of 63 nieces and nephews. He is lovingly survived by his granddaughter, Theresa A. Burke, and his sons-in-law, John Ferin and Matthew Blair.
He was predeceased by three brothers, George, Joseph and Donald Burke; by a sister, Margaret Scott, and by his beloved dog, Prince.
