Marian C. Brace, 96, of 334 East St. died Saturday morning at home.
Born in Stamford, N.Y., on June 6, 1909, daughter of Richard P. and Margaret Thiem Canfield, she was a 1928 graduate of Stamford Seminary.
Mrs. Brace was a librarian at Stamford Public Library for many years, retiring in 1987. Following her retirement, she moved to Lenox to make her home with her daughter, Margaret Brace Allen.
She and her husband, Irving E. Brace, were married March 25, 1944. He died Dec. 6, 1964.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and, before that, belonged to Stanford Methodist Church for much of her life.
She enjoyed reading.
Besides her daughter, she leaves a sister, Bessie Canfield Murphy of Lenox; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Marian Canfield Brace died Jan. 28, 2006. Calling hours at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, from 10 to 11. The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 11 at the funeral home by the Rev. Eric Dupee, pastor of United Methodist Church of Lenox.
Burial will be in the spring in Stamford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Brace's memory may be made to the Lee Regional Visiting Nurse Association or HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
Marian Canfield Brace also is survived by her grandchildren, Steven Brace Allen and Nancy Allen Hanson, and her great-grandchildren, Connor J. Hanson, Julia K. Hanson and Melanie C. Allen.
