Martha Hill

Martha Hill, 101, of Newton, formerly of Lenox, died Tuesday morning at The Stone Institute in Newton.
Born in Newton on Aug. 8, 1904, daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Cheney Carter, she was a graduate of Newton High School and Vassar College.
She lived with her family in Newtonville until her marriage to Warren Giddings Hill, when they moved to Padanaram.
She moved back to Newtonville in 1949. She was a former resident of Kimball Farms for 13 years.
Mrs. Hill was the director of admissions and a trustee of The Stone Institute in Newton Upper Falls and a member of the Women's Alliance of the West Newton Unitarian Church.
She enjoyed gardening, and was a member and president of the Newton Garden Club.
She leaves a son, Robert Miner Hill of Amesbury; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Warren Carter Hill and Prescott Frederick Hill.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Martha Carter Hill, who died Jan. 17, 2006, will be held at West Newton Unitarian Church at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Stone Institute, 277 Elliot St., Newton, MA 02464. BLACKINGTON & CONROY HAYES is handling arrangements.
She leaves a daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Hill of Amesbury; five grandchildren, David Hill of Groton, Clark Hill of Salisbury, Prescott Hill of Lexington, Ky., Robert Douglas Hill of Clifton, Va., and Amy Hill of South Boston, and two nieces.
