Sarah C. Taylor, 91, of Melbourne Place Assisted Living Community, 140 Melbourne Road, died at home yesterday morning.
Born in Roxbury, MA on Jan. 28, 1914, daughter of Annie Cohen and Simon Goodman, she graduated from Chelsea High School.
She spent most of her life in Everett, moving to Palm Beach, Fla. in 1971, and then moving to Pittsfield in 2001 to be near her daughter, Naomi A. Schwartz.
She attended Congregation Tifereth Israel in Everett, where she was a leader in her sisterhood, and later was a member of Congregation Knesset Israel in Pittsfield.
She was President of the Whidden Hospital Guild in Everett, part of the Brandeis University National Women's Committee and a volunteer at Tanglewood.
A life member of Hadassah, she held a yearly benefit in Palm Beach that raised over $50,000 for the Mother-Child Pavilion at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
Her husband, Eli Taylor, to whom she was married for 51 1/2 years, died Nov. 14, 1986.
In addition to her daughter Naomi, she leaves two other daughters, Evelyn Azer of La Jolla, Calif. and Frances Eizenstat of Chevy Chase, Md.; two sisters, Miriam Stavisky of Revere and Libby Ruby of Boston; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Sarah C. Taylor, who died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, will be Monday at 9:30 at Congregation Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road.
Burial will follow in the Old Tifereth Israel Cemetery on Fuller St. in Everett, Ma. at 2. Shiva week will be observed Monday and Tuesday in Chevy Chase and in Pittsfield at 22 Marlboro Drive on Wednesday from 7:30 until 9 and Thursday from 2 until 4 and 7:30 to 9. Minyan services will be at 7:30 both evenings.

In addition to her daughters, she leaves her devoted sons-in-law, Dr. Philip Azer of La Jolla, Calif., and Stuart E. Eizenstat of Chevy Chase, Md. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Theodore Goodman and Juke Goodman, and another son-in-law, Melvin Schwartz of Pittsfield. Her greatest joys in life were her family, friends and caretakers. She and her late husband, who was a prominent lawyer in Boston, made their daughters life members of Hadassah.
Sarah was the matriarch of a large family that were very devoted to her and benefited from her love and wisdom. She had great pleasure from the frequent visits from her family and the constant contact they had with her. She was an inspiration to all generations in her family with her positive attitude, courage and fortitude. DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME has been entrusted with the arrangements.
