Joseph E. "Ernie" Lanoue, 85, of 14 Joan Drive died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 8, 1920, son of William and Alvina Girard Lanoue, he attended schools there.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he received several medals.
Mr. Lanoue was a woodworker and was employed by several companies in the Boston area.
He also worked for his son, David E. Lanoue Inc. of Stockbridge, retiring in 1990.
He was a communicant of Grace Church Congregational in Pittsfield.
He and his wife, the former Marceline T. West, were married June 17, 1950.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, David Lanoue of Stockbridge, Thomas Lanoue of Great Barrington, Joseph Lanoue of Lenox Dale and Marc Lanoue of Pittsfield; three daughters, Debra Kiley and Jennifer Kirchner, both of Pittsfield, and Jeanne Priest of Arraial do Cabo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; a brother, Norman Lanoue of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Viola Cardinal of Canyon Country, Calif., and Theresa LaForest of Sun City, Ariz.; 25 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Joseph E. "Ernie" Lanoue, who died Jan. 13, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday at 10 at Grace Church Congregational, 1055 Williams St., by the Rev. Thomas E. Bridgman, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery, Lenox. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 5 to 8 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Leo Lanoue, and a sister, Rita Mastroiami. Ernie loved the Lord.
