Dorothea B. Gary, 69, a resident of Hillcrest Commons, died Wednesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 18, 1936, daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Haumuller Gerlach, she was a 1953 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Gary had been employed as an assembler by the former Greylock Plastics, and had also worked at the former England Brothers department store and for Service Master.
She had also, at one time, been a member of a labor union in Lowell.
She enjoyed reading, music, word puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Francis E. Gary, whom she married May 22, 1954, died Oct. 23, 2000.
She leaves two sons, Carl Gary of Cheshire and Michael Gary of Troy, N.Y.; two daughters, Terri Armstrong of Pittsfield and Tracy Langnickel of Adams; two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Gerlach, both of Pittsfield; two sisters, Carole Gerlach of California, and Marilyn Larkin of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Dorothea Barbara Gary, who died Wednesday, Jan. 11, will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. William Eckert officiating.
Calling hours will precede from 9 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Gary may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mrs. Gary also leaves her son-in-law, Michael Armstrong, and her five grandchildren, Ashley Perkins, Erica Langnickel, Timothy Gary, Deborah Gary and Sarah Gary, and her great-grandson, Tyler Demary.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Gerlach Jr. and Howard Gerlach.
