Helen J. Burke

Helen J. Burke, 92, formerly of Deming Street, died Monday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Born in Pittsfield on July 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the Charles and Eva Galok Gerwaski and attended schools in Pittsfield.

Mrs. Burke worked at the Wyandot Mill in Pittsfield and Crane & Co. in Dalton. At one time, she was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Pittsfield and St. Agnes' Church in Dalton.

She enjoyed bingo and ballroom dancing with her husband, Raymond J. Burke, whom she married Oct. 31, 1933. He died Jan. 27, 1993.

She leaves two daughters, Linda Martin of Dalton and Joan Fontana of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Roger Gerwaski of Lenox; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Helen J. Burke, 92, who died Jan. 9, 2006, will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dalton. Calling hours at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME will be held today from 4 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dalton Ambulance in care of the funeral home at 890 Main St., Dalton, 01226.
