Irving M. Lazerus

Irving M. Lazerus, 88, formerly of Pittsfield and Boca Raton, Fla., died Sunday at Doctors Health Center in Dallas, where he had resided for 10 years.
Born in Springfield on Aug. 2, 1917, son of Nathan and Sara Bass Lazerus, he was a graduate of Commerce High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served four years as an aide to Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was discharged as a master sergeant.
Mr. Lazerus moved to Pittsfield in 1946.
He was co-owner of the former Franco Food Store and of Tyler Home Supply, executive vice president of Winard Advertising and marketing manager for Isgood Reality. He retired in 1979.
He was a member of Knesset Israel Synagogue, the American Legion and the Louis Green Post 140 of the Jewish American War Veterans.
He and his wife, the former Rose Kobritz, were married Nov. 2, 1941. She died June 4, 1994.
He leaves two daughters, Susan Cohen of Fairfax, Va., and Judi Lazerus of Garland, Texas, and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Irving M. Lazerus, 88, who died Jan. 8, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 at Knesset Israel Synagogue by Rabbi David Greenspoon, Spiritual Leader.
Burial will follow in Knesset Israel Cemetery. The family will receive friends during Shiva on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at 23 Foote Ave. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
He is also survived by his grandson, Michael Cohen; son-in-law, Thanos Karras; two brothers-in-law, Max Bookless and Jack Widitor; two sisters-in-law, Jane Widitor and Betty Lazerus, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Vernon Lazerus, and a sister, Shirley Bookless.
