Allan J. Hoskeer

Allan J. Hoskeer, 70, of 68 Burke Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on May 28, 1935, son of Irving and Viola Pelkey Hoskeer, he was a 1954 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He also graduated from Berkshire Community College and from State University of New York at Albany with a bachelor of arts degree.
He served in the Air Force, spending much of his time in Europe.
Mr. Hoskeer was a draftsman for Beloit Jones Corp., retiring in 1996. He also worked for Hill Engineering.
He was a member of the Berkshire Hillsmen Chorus, a chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singers in America, and of Skyline Country Club.
He enjoyed playing golf and was a Boston Red Sox fan.
He and his wife, the former Judith Spazioso, were married Aug. 6, 1966, in Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Bonnie Hoskeer of Lanesborough, Heather Hoskeer of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Melodie and Jodie Hoskeer, both of Pittsfield; a sister, June Hoover of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant son, Tommy.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Allan J. Hoskeer, 70, died in Pittsfield on Jan. 10, 2006. Beloved grandfather to Evan Hoskeer and Kira Litchfield, and father-in-law to Alex Zarza, Michael Litchfield and Scott Kirchner.
He also leaves Melodie's friend, Jon Stickney. The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Jan. 12, from 4 to 7.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BMC Renal Dialysis Unit or to the American Diabetes Association. Mr. Hoskeer also leaves several sisters- and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.
