Richard John Masefield

Richard John Masefield, 50, of 11 Cardinal St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 13, 1955, son of Gladys Westover Masefield Frank and the late John A. Masefield, he was a 1974 graduate of Taconic High School.
At the time of his death, Mr. Masefield was a pipefitter with Berkshire Mechanical Contractors in Lee, where he had been employed for five years. Before that, he worked at Data Flute for five years and at Beloit Jones in Dalton and General Electric Co.
He was a member of the Pipefitters' Union.
He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed fishing.
He and his wife, the former Bonnie S. MacWhinnie, were married May 5, 1984, at St. Charles' Church.
Besides his wife and mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves two sons, Richard "RJ" Masefield and Adam C. Masefield, both of Pittsfield, and a sister, Audrey J. Gilbert of West Lebanon, N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard John Masefield, who died Saturday, Jan. 7, will be Thursday, Jan. 12, at noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 to noon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Masefield may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves two nieces, three grandnieces and two grandnephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia J. Masefield, on Dec. 7, 1963.
