Franklin Wilson Ragsdale Jr.

Franklin Wilson Ragsdale Jr., 72, of 261 Dewey Ave. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Hudson, N.Y., on March 17, 1933, son of Franklin W. Ragsdale Sr. and Sarah Porter Ragsdale, he attended schools in North Adams and in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.

An Army veteran, he served from 1956 to 1958.

Mr. Ragsdale was employed by the former England's department store for 35 years, retiring as warehouse manager when the store ceased operation in 1988.

He enjoyed cooking and fishing, frequently at the Onota Lake Causeway, and was a fan of the New York Yankees.

He leaves his wife, the former Betty J. Lewis, whom he married Jan. 17, 1960.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Franklin W. Ragsdale Jr., who died Saturday, Dec., 31, 2005, will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey.

Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the funeral home. Franklin is lovingly survived by his great-aunt, Myrtle Jones; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lewis and Geraldine Lewis, and his brother-in-law, Clifford Lewis.
