Albena Shirley Messer, 71, of 50 Dalton Ave. died Tuesday afternoon at her home.
Born in Pittsfield, Feb. 21, 1934, daughter of Walter V. and Albena M. Mariam Messer, she was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Ms. Messer was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing bingo, collecting dolls and toys, and her animals.
Ms. Messer was predeceased by her two former husbands, James R. Howe and Stanley Taikowski.
She is survived by a son, James R. Howe, III, of Easthampton, Mass; four daughters, Cynthia A. Robinson of Pittsfield, Sophia Sibbio of Knoxville, Tenn., Deborah Taikowski of Pittsfield, and Robin Nolan of Springfield; a sister, Elizabeth Lyon of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Albena Shirley Messer, who died Tuesday, Dec. 27, will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel, officiating.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms. Messer may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
