David Hubert Dalton

December 21, 2005

David Hubert Dalton, 69, of 720 Pitcher's Way, Hyannis, a native of Pittsfield, died Wednesday at home after a long battle with cancer.

Born on June 23, 1936, son of Herbert and Helen Crowley Dalton, he graduated in 1954 from Pittsfield High School and in 1956 from Bentley School of Finance in Boston.

For the past two years, Mr. Dalton had been a marketing representative for Hyline Cruises. He was first employed as a traveling auditor at General Electric Co., where he worked for 25 years. In 1981, he became an independent manufacturers' representative. In the early 1990s, he founded Mobil Mediserv, an insurance exam company incorporated in Hyannis that did business statewide. He sold the business in 2003.

He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in Hyannis, and a former lay minister with United Church of Christ and a catechism teacher at Christ the King Church, both in Liverpool, N.Y.

He was a volunteer with Special Olympics, a Little League coach for several years and a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

His first wife, Betsy, died in 1972.

He and his wife, the former Anne Barbieri Ianniello, would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary Feb. 1.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna Jo Kelley of Morrisville, Pa.; a son, David Allen Dalton of Danville, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Andrea Marie Ianniello of Hyannis; two stepsons, Andrew Anthony Ianniello of Yarmouthport and Joseph Vincent Ianniello of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Deborah Dalton Badger of North Eastham; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The Funeral Mass for David Hubert Dalton, who died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, will be Wednesday at 10 at St. Francis' Church, South Street, Hyannis.

Burial will follow in St. Francis' Cemetery, Centerville. Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 at JOHN-LAWRENCE FUNERAL HOME, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis' Prep School, 33 Cross St., Hyannis, MA 02601, or to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7295.

He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Although his career at GE took him many places in the country, his heart was always in New England. His kind, giving way touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
