Galen Andrew Davis

Galen Andrew Davis, 68, of Southwick, formerly of Pittsfield, died at home on Dec. 17 from melanoma.
Born in Dexter, Maine, on Aug. 24, 1937, son of John A. and Pauline Ramsay Davis, he was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended the former North Adams State College.
Mr. Davis served in the Navy on the USS Peterson and retired from a 33-year career as a passenger service agent with Mohawk Airlines, which merged with Allegheny Airlines and later became U.S. Airways.
Mr. Davis was a 41-year resident of Southwick and was employed by Fisher Auto until his death. He was a bird watcher, canoer, as well as a home-brewer and mead maker.
He enjoyed singing and participated in many local community theatre shows in the Southwick area in the 1970s and 1980s.
He was a member of Pilgrim Covenant Church in Granby, Conn., and was an active choir member. He participated in the Missions and Outreach Ministry, spearheading the outreach program to the New England Seafarers Mission in Boston.
He leaves his wife of 36 years, the former Patricia Bruce; two sons, John A. Davis III of Southwick and Jeffrey M. Davis of North Salem, N.Y.; two daughters, Kathryn E.P. Davis of Southwick and Patricia R. Davis of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Sara Zentmeyer of Hershey, Pa., and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service will take place at Pilgrim Covenant Church, 605 Salmon Brook St., Granby, Conn., on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at 11 a.m. There are no calling hours. The burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Davis also leaves daughters-in-law, Tracey Davis of Southwick and Barbara Davis of North Salem, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Peter Gulick of New York, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Rick Zentmeyer of Hershey, Pa.; three beloved grandchildren, Caroline and Sarah Wilson, and Liliana Davis.
