Alan "Skip" Summers, 56, of 1634 North St. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Great Barrington on Jan. 4, 1949, son of Doris Love Warner, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
At the time of his death, he had been employed by Kimball Farms in Lenox for 13 years, first in maintenance and security, and, most recently, as a van driver.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and fixing things. He was a Yankees and New England Patriots fan.
He and his wife, the former Marilyn Berthiaume, were married May 4, 1968, in Dalton.
Besides his wife and mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves a daughter, Kelly M. Summers of Pittsfield; two brothers, Stephen Warner of the state of Florida and Patrick Warner of Adams; three sisters, Margaret Plankey of Dalton, Linda Green of Pittsfield and Elizabeth Sumner of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Alan "Skip" Summers, 56, of Pittsfield died Dec. 18, 2005. At his request, following cremation, a private burial service will take place at a later date.
There will be no calling hours. Skip also leaves his granddaughter, Tanisha Goines, with whom he enjoyed spending time. He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Warner of Pittsfield, on Sept. 18, 2005, and by his stepfather, Paul Warner, in 2002.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
