Robert Milton Hunt

Robert Milton Hunt, 74, of 117 Danforth Ave. died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 31, 1931, son of James H. and Ruth Van Buren Hunt, he was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He joined the Air Force in 1949 and served four years, retiring as an airman first class. He then transferred to the Navy, where he served 20 years.
Mr. Hunt was a member of the Nantucket Police Department for several years before returning to Pittsfield in 1980. At the time of his death, he had been a cab driver for Rainbow Taxi Co. for 25 years.
He was a member of Mystic Lodge of Masons in Boston and enjoyed crossword puzzles and billiards.
His first wife, the former Annie L. Dowdell, died in 2002.
He was married to the former Mae A. Ross.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jerry L. Hunt of Nantucket; a daughter, Laurena A. Garcelon of Brighton Plantation, Maine; two stepdaughters, Jacqueline White and Kathye Allen, both of Pittsfield; a stepson, Kent E. DeWitt of Pittsfield; a sister, Catherine R. Dowdell of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Robert M. "Bob" Hunt, who died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1 at Second Congregational Church in Pittsfield by the Rev. Kweli Ya-Saleem and the Rev. Hannah Anderson.
Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Bob is lovingly survived by sons-in-law Thomas Garcelon, Henry White and Gary Allen, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Shameal Fulton, and by a brother, James F. Hunt.
