George X. Geoffrion

George X. Geoffrion, 82, of 52 Sunset Drive died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Adams on Sept. 6, 1923, son of Louis and Louise Mercier Geoffrion, he attended schools there and took carpentry classes at Pittsfield High School.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

A carpenter, Mr. Geoffrion was a foreman for Joseph Francese for 25 years. He also was self-employed designing and building homes on Cape Cod, retiring in 1982.

He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church.

He was a member of Carpenters' Union Local 624 and of the Berkshire Carvers. A sailor, he built his first boat and enjoyed woodcarving and fishing.

He and his wife, the former Saili Masengo, were married Sept. 7, 1946.

Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Nancy Paolillo of Brookline, and Jean Joseph and Barbara Gibson, both of Pittsfield; a brother, Charles Geoffrion of Fredericksburg, Va.; a sister, Marie Brielman of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for George X. Geoffrion, 82, who died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, will be Wednesday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. Memorial donations may be made to Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association or to St. Agnes' Memorial Fund, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.

George will be lovingly missed by his six grandchildren Matthew Joseph, Jenna Gallagher, Megan Gibson, Michelle Passios, Kevin Paolillo and Lisa Mahoney; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elia Patella of Pittsfield; sons-in-law Tony Gibson of Pittsfield and Leonard Paolillo of Brookline, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Geoffrion.
