Mary Katherine O'Leary, 75, of Colonial Gardens, 123 Highview Drive, a longtime teacher, died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 7, 1930, daughter of George F. and Katharine Dehey O'Leary, graduated from St. Joseph's High School. In 1955, she received a bachelor's degree in education from the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
She also received a master's degree in education from the University of Massachusetts.
She lived most of her life in Hinsdale.
Miss O'Leary taught in the Dalton and Lenox school systems, retiring in 1996 with 40 years of service.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Hinsdale, where she served as a lector, and a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading.
She leaves a brother, G. David O'Leary of West Springfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary Katharine O'Leary, who died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, will be tomorrow at 10 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Patrick's Church in Hinsdale celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. She also leaves a sister-in-law Ann; three nieces, Susan Florek and her husband, Mark, of Westfield, Kathi Ann O'Leary of West Springfield, and Kristen Brosseau and her husband, Joseph, of West Springfield; four grandnephews, Joshua, Daniel, Joseph and Matthew, and a grandniece, Katharine.
A sister, Marianne Caffrey, died in 1982.
