Ferris Elias Kalill, 78, of 55 Velma Ave. died Monday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Waterville, Maine, on June 26, 1927, son of Elias and Anna Stevens Kalill, he was a graduate of LaSalle Academy.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Kalill was employed by GE in the power transformer department for 48 years. He also assisted in the operation of his mother's grocery store, Kalill's, on Springside Avenue.
He was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church, and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
His wife, the former Mabel M. Zaher, whom he married Aug. 9, 1953, died Jan. 2, 1997.
He leaves a son, John F. Kalill of Columbus, Ind.; a daughter, Victoria M. Macchi of Agawam; a brother, Paul Kalill of Westfield, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Ferris Elias Kalill, who died Monday, Dec. 5, also leaves his daughter-in-law, Cindy Kalill; his son-in-law, Joseph Macchi, and three grandchildren, Tyler Smith Kalill, Elizabeth Kalill and Anthony Macchi.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Julia Shibley and Marion George. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 9, at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Teresa Church, celebrated by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
