Mary C. Glodt

Mary C. Glodt, 85, of Appletree Point on Onota Lake, and Houston, Texas, died Saturday at her home in Houston after a short illness.

Born in Detroit on July 22, 1920, daughter of Arthur and Judith Ginsberg Colten, she attended Michigan State University.

She moved to Pittsfield in 1948.

Mrs. Glodt was board president of Berkshire Center for Families and Children, founding member and president of the former Purple Hills Nursery School, membership chairwoman of the League of Women Voters, chairwoman of the Children's Theater Program of the Junior League of Pittsfield, Junior League vice president, and a board member of the Social Service Index.

She and her husband, the late Dr. Herbert R. Glodt, moved to Pittsfield in 1948. Dr. Glodt practiced internal medicine in Pittsfield for 40 years before his death in 1988.

She leaves a son, David Glodt of Houston; a daughter, Barbara Rockman of Sante Fe, N.M.; a brother, Richard Colten of Upper Saddle River, N.J., and three granddaughters.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of the life of Mary Glodt, who died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, will be held in Pittsfield in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, 55 Pittsfield-Lenox Road, Lenox, MA 01240, and the Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104.
