Rosemary Gannon

Rosemary Gannon, 95, of Lyman Street, Westborough died Saturday at the Beaumont Nursing Center after a long illness.
Born in Worcester on Sept. 14, 1910, daughter of Dr. John F. and Mary O'Connell Gannon, she moved to Pittsfield in 1920 upon the appointment of her father as superintendent of schools.
She was a 1928 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1933 graduate of Smith College. In 1939, she received her master's degree from Columbia University.
For more than 40 years, Miss Gannon was involved in education as a teacher and director of the Bennett Nursery School, and professor of Child Study at Bennett College in Millbrook, N.Y. Upon her retirement in 1977, she moved to Falmouth.
She was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Mashpee. She performed volunteer work there and at the library in West Falmouth.
She was a founding board member of both Dutchess Day School in Millbrook and Falmouth Academy. She was also a member of the Smith College Alumnae Club and enjoyed reading, photography and needlepoint.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A liturgy of Christian Burial for Rosemary Gannon, who died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, will be celebrated today at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Holliston. Burial will follow at St. John's cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the CHESMORE FUNERAL HOME of Holliston. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
She leaves three nephews, William A. "Andy" St. James of Holliston, John F. Gannon of Shrewsbury, and Stephen T. Gannon of Richmond, Va.; three great-nieces, Nancy Kirshe, Jill Labon and Jennifer Picarillo; five great-nephews, Jefferey Gannon, Michael Gannon, Peter Gannon, John Gannon and Thomas Gannon.
