Albert Alfred Laurin

Albert Alfred Laurin, 86, of 95 East Park Terrace died Monday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 8, 1919, son of Alphonse A. and Aldora Hebert Laurin, he was a 1938 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served from March 17, 1941 to October 19, 1945 with the 104th Regiment-26th U.S. Infantry Division, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Mr. Laurin was the longtime owner-operator of Laurin's Service Station, located at the corner of Tyler and Pine Streets in Pittsfield. He had owned the business from the early 1950s until his retirement in 1992.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the VFW Post 448.

He enjoyed golf, traveling and cross-country skiing, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He most enjoyed being at the garage.

His wife, the former Constance A. Lamont, whom he married Oct. 3, 1942, in Notre Dame Church, died Aug. 15.

He leaves three sons, David W. Laurin and Craig A. Laurin, both of Pittsfield, and Jeffrey R. Laurin of Windsor; two daughters, Diane R. Flynn of Pittsfield and Linda Ann Furlano of West Stockbridge; a brother, Raymond Laurin of Plainville, Conn.; two sisters, Aurora Cox of St. Peter's, Missouri, and Theresa Dayton of Lenox; 13 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Albert A. Laurin, who died Monday, Nov. 21, leaves two sons-in- law, Robert Flynn and Dennis J. Furlano; and his daughters-in-law, Aline (Mrs. David) Laurin, Paula M. (Mrs. Craig) Laurin, and Marjorie (Mrs. Jeffrey) Laurin; his 13 grandchildren, Renee Roos, Nicole Laurin and Elise Laurin, Patrick Flynn, Erin Ford, Stephen Laurin, Michael Laurin, Jeanne Schnackenberg, Valerie Lanfair, Michelle Ferdyn and Brent Furlano, Abbey Laurin and Ian Laurin, and his eight great-grand-children, Tyler LeFebvre, Lindsey Ford, Ashley Flynn, Ryan Flynn, Zachary Roos, David Roos, Michela Laurin, and Soleil Laurin.

He was predeceased by his brother, Maurice Laurin, and three sisters, Margaret Lansberg, Annette Duprey and Florence Harper.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 10:45 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 at St. Mary the Morning Star Church, celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street.
