Kathleen C. Downey, 44, of Pompano Beach, Fla., a former Pittsfield resident, died Saturday at North Ridge Medical Center in Florida.
She moved to Pompano Beach in March.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 29, 1960, daughter of Donald C. Cummings of Spring Hill, Fla., and the late Florence "Flossie" Strojny Cummings, she was educated in local schools and was a 1978 graduate of Taconic High School.
She continued her education at Berkshire Community College where she received her A.S. in business careers, and graduated with high honors with the Class of 1989.
Mrs. Downey was most recently employed at Berkshire Medical Center and had worked in various departments during this time.
She enjoyed crafts and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed traveling and taking on new challenges.
Besides her father, she leaves a daughter, Danielle Leyva of Kissimmee, Fla.; two brothers, Brian Cummings of Wilbraham and Blaine Cummings of Venice, Fla.; a sister, Susan Gregory of Pittsfield; and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Kathleen C. Downey, 44, died Nov. 12, 2005. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9:30 a.m. in DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield. The Rev. John J. Varley, pastor of St. Teresa's Church, will officiate the services.
The interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations in her memory can be made to NAMI in care of the funeral home.
