Donald Theodore English

Donald Theodore English, 84, formerly of 63 Stoddard Ave., died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since January.
Born in Rensselaer, N.Y., on July 24, 1921, son of Thomas and Mary Agnes Carrier English, he came to Pittsfield at age 4 with his parents, and graduated from Pittsfield High School.
An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. English was employed as an upholsterer for Shea's Rugs and Upholstery, retiring in 1985 after more than 30 years of service.
He also taught upholstering at the Women's Club of Pittsfield for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church. He was a member of the Senior Center, YMCA, and the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564.
He enjoyed swimming, bowling and walking.
His wife, the former Rita M. Doucette, whom he married Oct. 4, 1947, died May 10, 1997.
He leaves two sons, Bernard J. English of Voorhees, N.J., and Wayne C. English of Sunderland; two brothers, Earl R. English of Lewes, Del., and Thomas "Tucker" English of Placerville, Calif.; two sisters, Charlotte Melle and Marie Ruprecht, both of Pittsfield, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Donald T. English, who died Thursday, Nov. 10, leaves his three grandchildren, Ashley English, Brittany English and Jenna English. He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred English, and a sister, Esther Kennedy.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 12, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Charles Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
