Harold C. Hamling Sr.

Harold C. Hamling Sr., 86, of 14 Cove St. died Sunday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 1, 1919, son of Martin and Cordelia Hart Hamling, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 11th Infantry regiment of the 5th Infantry division.
Mr. Hamling was a machinist at GE for more than 30 years. He retired in 1984.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
He enjoyed music, photography and woodworking.
He and his wife, the former Julia L. Marlowe, were married Nov. 28, 1940, at St. Mary's Church. She died Dec. 12, 2004.
He leaves three sons, Ronald B. Hamling of Hinsdale, Harold C. Hamling Jr. of Pittsfield and Mark M. Hamling of Pittsfield; four daughters, Elizabeth M. Woodin of Pittsfield, Janet C. Verge of Hinsdale, Melinda L. Green of Pittsfield and Jody J. Errichetto of Windsor; 20 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Harold C. Hamling Sr. will be Thursday at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Hamling may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
