Nancy Victoria Mc Duffey

Nancy Victoria Mc Duffey, 68, of North Main Street, Portville, N.Y., died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 27, 1937, daughter of Dr. Joseph V. and Johanna Marie Van Blerck Breen, she attended local schools. She was a 1955 graduate of Mount St. Mary's in Nashua, N.H., and was a 1957 graduate of LaSalle Junior College in Boston.

She also attended Ohio State University in Columbus and St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y.

A laboratory technician, Mrs. Mc Duffey was employed at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital for many years, retiring in 2000.

At the time of her death, she was mayor of Portville and was in her second term. She was first elected in 1998.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Portville.

She was a past member of the Fire Department and a past member and former president of the Lions Club.

Her husband, William E. Mc Duffey, whom she married April 17, 1963 in Montreal, Canada, died June 9.

She leaves three brothers, Victor Joseph Breen of Washington, George Cornelius Breen of New Lebanon, N.Y., and John Michael Breen of Bowling Green, Ken.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Nancy V. Mc Duffey will be Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 at St. Ann Church in Lenox, with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor, celebrating the Liturgy of Christian Burial.

Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Portville at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either HospiceCare of the Berkshires or Portville Lions Club, both in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.

She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Kathy, Pamela and Denise Breen, her nieces, Colleen Winslow and Lynne Harting, and nephews, Michael and Joseph Breen.
