Robert G. Beringer

Robert G. Beringer, 81, of 977 North St. died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in White Plains, N.Y., on May 6, 1924, son of Fred A. and Marguerite Romaine Beringer, he was a graduate of White Plains High School.
An Army veteran, he served in World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Beringer was a self-employed house painter for 55 years.
He enjoyed shuffleboard, poker, fishing and jigsaw puzzles.
He leaves his wife, the former Marilyn Riche, whom he married Dec. 21, 1947.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Paula Albro of Castleton, Vt.; a son, Richard Beringer of Temple, N.H.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICE -- A memorial service for Robert G. Beringer will be held at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gay Rahn, pastor of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will follow in North Becket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Becket Fire Department, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves two grandchildren, Jamie Virgilio of Pittsfield and Jessica Maloney of Lee, and two great-grandchildren, Tyler James Virgilio and Caroline Maloney. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Beringer.
