John B. Cimini

John B. Cimini, 88, of 10 Lillybrook Road died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Pittsfield on June 24, 1917, son of Alberico and Angela Caropreso Cimini, he was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.

Mr. Cimini was employed by GE for 37 years, retiring from the ordnance department in 1977.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564, and a former member of the General Electric Athletic Association.

He enjoyed playing golf and bingo and was a staunch Red Sox fan.

He and his wife, the former Mary T. Sinopoli, were married June 14, 1941.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Albert J. Cimini of Pittsfield, with whom he made his home; a daughter, Christine M. Hoeske of Harvard; a sister, Rose M. Cimini of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for John B. Cimini will be Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 24, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Members of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 will meet at 6 for a Ritual Service. The Holy Name Society and Ladies' Guild of Mount Carmel Church will meet at 5:30 for a Vigil Service. Loving grandfather of David and Matthew Hoeske, Alison DiGeronimo, and Craig, Mark and Laura Cimini. Loving great-grandfather of Jack and Joshua DiGeronimo. Father-in-law to Donna L. Cimini and Richard J. Hoeske.

John was predeceased by a brother, Tullio Cimini. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
