Albert A. Papirio

Albert A. Papirio, 82, of 582 Cheshire Road died yesterday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where he had resided since March.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 24, 1922, son of Nicholas and Concetta Festa Papirio, he attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He also attended Berkshire Community College.
An Army veteran of World War II, he earned several medals and ribbons.
Mr. Papirio was employed by New England Telephone Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1984 as a supervisor in the central office. Prior to this, he worked at GE before entering the Army.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post 68, Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564, and Telephone Pioneers.
He and his wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" M. McAnanny, celebrated their 52nd anniversary Aug. 29.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, John Papirio of Walpole and Nicholas Papirio of Pittsfield; a sister, Ann Papirio of Pittsfield, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Albert A. Papirio died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor. Loving grandfather of John, Jessica, Kristen, Andrew Papirio of Walpole, and Heather and Nicole Papirio of Pittsfield.
Loving great-grandfather of Mason and Jordan Papirio of Pittsfield. Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Members of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 of Pittsfield will meet at the funeral home on Friday at 5:30 for a Ritual Service.
Albert was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, John and Romeo Papirio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of the Berkshires or a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
Other survivors include four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Caul of Sheffield, Bette Mae Papirio of Park Ridge, N.J., Beatrice Papirio of Laconia, N.H., and Helene Papirio of Pittsfield, and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Papirio of Walpole.
